BEAUTIFUL, USER-FRIENDLY WEB DESIGN
Today, it’s common for a website to be the first interaction a potential customer has with a business. It’s also just as common for successful businesses to be completely online, with no physical location. With consumer habits constantly changing, and software evolving rapidly, ensuring you are taking full advantage of what is available is critical. Black River Digital understands the importance of having a cohesive website and digital presence, and how it affects your search ranking, site responsiveness, and user experience.
Our websites are always designed with our customers in mind. We create beautiful websites that can be simple enough on the back end for you to manage yourself or a more custom site that can integrate your pre-existing software. Whether we are creating a completely new site, updating your existing site, or managing your site, we can provide a stunning and responsive experience for your customers. The process of developing a website can be separated into seven simple steps:
A Content Management System, or CMS, is used to monitor and publish content to a website. Instead of writing all of the HTML for a site, these systems have become so good that it makes more sense to use one, especially for small to medium-sized businesses because of their ease of use and the amount of time they can save. For most of our customers, we recommend using WordPress as a CMS because of how compatible it is with other functions of your business (ex. Shopify, booking software, etc.), and its robust list of plugins.
Other examples of great CMS:
UI, or User Interface, is the way a series of pages and visual elements are structured on a webpage. It includes drawing up a preliminary site map and evaluating its flow, but it goes further than that. We consider the context of the site, the average number of clients that you expect to visit your site and considering their tendencies, accessibility requirements, and more. The interface needs to be functional for whoever visits the site, and a great starting point is evaluating the expected path that a user will take on your site, and making sure it’s functional. Our goal is to always give the user the best possible interface to interact with, and designing a terrific UI is at the core of a great user experience.
UX, or User Experience, is one of the biggest things we take into consideration when we are designing and developing a site. What emotions does the site invoke? Does it work well? Is it easy to use? A website’s purpose should be self-explanatory, and so too should its functionality. If the website has to be explained to the customer, or if instructions to use it are required, then it’s probably fair to assume the website isn’t any good. We ensure that any website that we design answers these questions, and has a positive effect on anyone who visits your site.
For our dedicated page about E-Commerce, click here! E-commerce enables you to be available for sales that might not have happened naturally. It offers new opportunities for exposure, such as linking your Shopify account to your Instagram page. Also, it means that your customers will have an opportunity to order your product even when your storefront is closed for the day, and means that you can advertise your product listings, rather than just trying to direct traffic to your physical storefront.
